The Committee will recollect that at their meeting on 22nd May (L.P.(42) 30th Meeting, Conclusion 2) they had before them a Joint Memorandum prepared by us regarding suggestions which had come from various quarters, including the Labour Party, that Public Assistance Authorities should be required to apply the principles of the Determination of Needs Act in granting poor relief.
