SCOTTISH MILK PRODUCERS' CLAIM FOR PRICE PARITY. Memo. by S/S Scotland.

12 Sep 1942

Milk Marketing Board should be raised so as to average over the year the same as the mean English price. For the reasons briefly touched upon above I am satisfied that as a matter of expediency as well as equity this claim should be met in full. I am prepared that the cost should be met by an adjustment of the retail price of milk in Scotland. The necessary adjustment would not raise that retail price above the average retail price in England. 6. I find it necessary to raise this issue in the Committee owing to the difficulties which have been expressed, in correspondence, by the Ministers principally concerned.
