A file of memoranda, with accompanying graphs and statistical information, produced for the Lord President's Committee on domestic affairs during the Second World War. Subjects covered in the memoranda include the prevalence of various diseases within British industry; the supply of various key resources, including rubber and coal, for the British war effort; and a series of attempts by the committee to increase the size of the British coal mining industry's workforce. The documents also cover the committee's proposal to significantly raise the number of doctors attached to the British armed forces; Britain's international trade; and a series of campaigns by women working in British industry to receive the same level of compensation payments if they are injured at work as their male colleagues. Other documents comment on the committee's attempts to save key resources through new rationing measures; and the committee's role in organising fire-watching in Britain's urban areas.
