10 Sep 1942

-1- 4. SLAUGHTERING OF CATTLE IN GREAT BRITAIN The Agricultural Departments and the Ministry of Food, in consultation with the Central Statistical Office, were asked to investigate compared the slaughtering of cattle in the first half of 1942 with the same period of 1941 (L.P.(42) 44th Meeting, Minute 11). The results of this investigation are presented here. All figures refer to Great Britain. 2. The periods of seven months (December - June) were chosen to allow direct comparison between figures of slaughterings and the livestock statistics available from the censuses taken in December and because these seven months cover the winter fattening period.
