OUTPUT. -2- The Committee will know that output has been adversely affected during this period by an epidemic of strikes. But even if the loss through strikes were discounted, the average weekly output would still have been below the programme Thus if there were no further loss of production through strikes, the output for the year would still be barely over 200 million tons, a deficit of approximately 8 million tons. It should be noted that in the period under review the manpower of the industry has been above the average which the Committee expected over the whole year.
