8 May 1942

###n ###rd ###vy ### ### ###d S. 8.5.42. pensions. THIS DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT). SECRET. L.P. (42) 109. 8th May, 1942. Minute the. Seal Memo. Minister WAR CABINET. COPY NO. LORD PRESIDENT'S COMMITTEE. PENSIONS APPEALS. Memorandum by the Lord Chancellor. I have read these papers about the suggestion that Pensions Appeal Tribunals might be constituted through using the County Court Judges. I agree with the views expressed in the Ministry's Memorandum. Apart from the fact that County Court Judges are, as a whole, very much burdened with their present work and would find it difficult to undertake so extensive a further duty, I doubt whether they are really the best qualified sort of Tribunal for this purpose.
