Increased economies in wrapping and packing may yet be possible, but it is doubtful whether there is room for further large economies unless by the further restriction of the distribution of information. Newspaper and periodical consumption is one-fifth of pre-war and book consumption two-fifths, The size and circulation of newspapers and periodicals have been reduced, but (apart from some voluntary stopping of periodicals in the past to transfer the paper to others) the number has not been reduced.
