PART II. 1. I have gone fully into the question of man power in the Coal mines. 2. During the years 1920-1933 the personnel of the industry contracted from a peak figure of 1,227,000 to under 800,000. From 1933 to the outbreak of war the numbers varied" between 789,000 and 762,000 (2nd September, 1939). The figure now is 707,000. 3. With the increased demands for coal necessary to maintain our ever increasing war production, we must produce at the minimum an average of 4,330,000 tons a week during the coming summer.
