PETROL RATIONS OF PRIVATE CARS. PROPOSED REDUCTIONS IN: Memo. by Secretary for Petroleum.

B. Supplementary Ration. A cut of 10 per cent on all supplementary rations of private cars and motor cycles, with the proviso that in the case of an "essential" user the cut may be restored on adequate cause shown. This cut cannot affect any issue before that 'for the April-May period, since issues for February-March are already being made. (Those for April-May will begin on 7th March). The net saving to be anticipated from a cut of the order suggested will be about 16/17,000 tons. 4. It is also proposed to take such steps as are practicable to obtain a reduction in consumption by Government Departments, Local Authorities, etc.
