The Committee had before them a Memorandum by the Minister of Food (L.P.(42) 106), giving a summary of the points to be embodied in the Order now under preparation. THE MINISTER OF FOOD said that approximately 94 million meals were served per week in catering establishments throughout the country; e.g., canteens, restaurants, clubs, etc. The corresponding figure in the Greater London area was about 37 million. maximum charge of 5/for food served at any meal would cover all but perhaps 1% of this latter number.
