The Committee had before them a Memorandum by the Chancellor of the Exchequer (L.P.(42)73) setting out for the consideration of the Committee certain questions of policy as regards exports to North and South America. The following were the main points in discussion:- (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) In certain cases we had to export goods from this country in order to obtain essential imports in return. An out- standing instance was the export of tinplate to South America.
