COAL PRICES (Previous Reference: L.P.(41) 22nd Meeting, Minute 7.) 1. The Committee had under consideration a Note by the President of the Board of Trade (L.P.(41) 226) covering a Memorandum by the Secretary for Mines proposing an increase of 4d. a ton on retail coal prices in London. The memorandum showed that an investigation of typical merchants' costs had been carried out by accountants, who had reported that the figures placed before them, relating to the early part of 1941, would justify a total increase of 2/1d.
