ALLOCATION OF CEREALS FOR DISTILLING. Memo. by President of the Board of Trade.

29 Dec 1941

The question of avoiding any discrimination between the grain and the malt distillers is, I think the responsibility of the Minister of Food, who will no doubt consult the Whisky Association. I understand, however, that the Chairman of the Whisky Export Group considers that any allocation should be divided according to the normal distribution as between grain and malt distillers, and that while the Distillers Company Ltd. have a preponderant interest in both sections there are some grain distilleries that would obtain no indirect advantage from an allocation to malt distilleries.
