GLYCERINE Memorandum by Lord Portal, Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply. In L.P.(41)209 the Minister of Food proposes a rationing of soap and a reduction in the manufacture of soap corresponding to some 45,000 to 50,000 tons of fats a year. A reduction of soap production of this magnitude involves a loss of some 4,500 to 5,000 tons of glycerine a year.
