(3) Farmers' Vans and Lorries. The cut aimed at was 20 per cent. to produce an annual saving of 5,000 tons. A saving at the rate of about 2,400 tons or 6.5 per cent. was actually achieved in the four months July to October, but this rate of saving is not likely to be maintained in view of the intensive expansion of agricultural production under the stimulus of the Ministry of Agriculture. (4) Local Authorities and Police. The cut aimed at was an overall 10 per cent. on these Services as compared with the monthly average of February to April.
