CLOTHES RATIONING. UNIFORMS FOR ROYAL ORDNANCE FACTORY WORKERS. Letter from Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply to President of the Board of Trade.

23 Oct 1941

Lord Beaverbrook asked me to remind you that, at present, the three Corps of women in the Services - W.R.E.N.S., W.A.A.F.S. and A.T.S. - are given uniforms as a free issue without coupons. Moreover, the 950,000 women in the W.V.S. are allowed to purchase their uniforms without surrendering coupons, and, in the Land Army, the purchase of one complete set of necessary clothing has been allowed without coupons, although it is true that renewals require coupons.
