COAL PRODUCTION. Note by President of the Board of Trade

2 Oct 1941

The agreement between the two sides of the industry to remove the conditions which have been attached to the earning of the attendance bonus became operative on the 2nd September in England and Wales and on the 3rd September in Scotland. It has not been possible so far to form a reliable judgment on the effect of the change upon production. 26th September to 30th September coalfield conferences have been held in the majority of the larger districts. They have been attended by representatives of both sides of the industry from every Pit Production Committee, and were addressed by representatives of the Coal Production Council.
