COAL SITUATION. Fourth Fortnightly Report.

The rate of flow has not been up to expectations and following upon investigations carried out in the districts by officers of the Mines Department special arrangements to cut out some of the delays were agreed upon at the meeting of the Coal Production Council on Wednesday, 27th August, at which there were present representatives of the Ministry of Labour. It was then decided that:- (i) Directions should be given to all eligible men whether they had registered as willing to return to coalmining or not.
