II. Furnished Lettings. 1. Local authorities have complete control over any sub-lettings, furnished or unfurnished, of any parts of houses owned by them and can withhold their consent to any letting which they consider unreasonable. 20 As indicated above, the difficulties of which complaint is made relate to furnished lettings in privately owned houses. The Rent Acts empower the Courts to direct that where the rent charged for such a letting yields more than a normal profit### the excess shall be irreco###erable from the tenant and the excess already paid shall be refunded.
