"WEDGWOOD" PROGRAMME. Memo. by Minister of Transport.

11 Apr 1941

THE "WEDGWOOD" PROGRAMME. This programme of Railway Works totalling nearly £5 million in value was submitted to me by the Railway Executive Committee on the 5th March, 1941. They are estimated to take varying periods up to two years to complete. The proposed works are grouped according to sixteen main routes with a few additional items and are shortly described in the attached statement which shows also the extent to which I have so far approved them. I have, after consultation with the Treasury, approved a number of the works to the value of £861,000; in addition, a number of the smaller works included in the programme, to the value of £69,000, had been approved before the programme as a whole was submitted to me.
