720,000 COAL PRODUCTION. (previous Reference: L.P. (41) 46th Meeting, Minute 2.) 1. The Committee had before them:- (a) Note by the President of the Board of Trade, enclosing correspondence with the Ministry of Labour and National Service (L.P. (41) 174), and (b) Memorandum by the Secretary of State for War on the number of face workers in the Army (L.P. (41) 175). THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE said that there were now 706,000 workers in the industry as against the target of 720,000. The deficit of 14,000 represented only 2%.
