September. The index for Guns, etc. declined by 20 per cent., the index for Ammunition Components by 26 per cent. and that for Explosives by 36 per cent. The Ministry of Supply state that some of these reductions are to be explained in part by the exceptionally low level in September of deliveries of war equipment from overseas. 5. The rate of deliveries of infantry and cruiser tanks (Table 3) were maintained at a practically unchanged level between August and September, after making allowance for the difference in the number of weeks in the two months; but deliveries of cruiser tanks in these months were at a lower rate than in any month since April.
