the conclusions reached by the Food (d) accept Policy Committee at its meeting held on 24th May, 1940 (F.P.(M)(40) 14th Conclusions, Minute 3) that, as regards the 1940-41 season the policy to be adopted by the Government is to be based on the following principles:- (Extract from the Conclusions of the Food Policy Committee referred to above.) "that for the reasons set out in Paper F.P.(M)(40) 63 it would be prudent to assume that a substantial reduction in imports of feeding stuffs would be required to meet the needs of the shipping situation; "that the livestock policy to be followed in these circumstances should be broadly as follows:(i) Our first aim should be to avoid any appreciable diminution in the output of milk; (ii) The production or fat cattle and sheep should be maintained so far as was consistent with (i) above (iii) Any necessary economics in imports o of feeding stuffs should be made at the expense of the cereals required for pigs and poultry.
