THE COMMITTEE had before them a note by the Chancellor of the Exchequer covering a memorandum which in accordance with the arrangement agreed upon at the meeting noted in the margin, had been prepared in the Treasury with the assistance of officials of the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Health, the Scottish Office and the Assistance Board (L.P.(40) 45). THE CHAIRMAN said that the memorandum dealt with the two main cases on which decisions were required, namely:(1) the case where the applicant was himself the householder (case 1).
